There is hereby established in and for the City of Sylvester the Sylvester Community
Relations Commission to be composed of eleven members who shall be residents of the
city. Each council member shall appoint two members to the commission and the mayor
shall appoint three members. Emphasis in the selection of members shall be upon obtaining
a group diverse with respect to race, religion, economic status, type of employment,
age, national origin, sex, geographic location, and political party affiliation. Each
of the eight members appointed by the city council members shall be appointed to an
initial term of two years and until a successor is appointed and qualified. The three
members appointed by the mayor shall each be appointed for an initial term of one
year and until a successor is appointed and qualified. After initial appointments
have been served, terms shall be two years each in duration and until successors are
appointed and qualified.
